I just can’t stop looking at these.
I just can’t stop looking at these.
I do love a crossover.
So I have been a proud anime music video (AMV) creator since 2003… but I believe none of you fine people following me were attracted to my blog because of that. In fact, I don’t know how many of you have ever even seen any of my videos.
So here, have some videos. After all, what is Tumblr for if not for sharing one’s creative works with the world, right?
Let’s start with what may be my best-known to date, Alternate Eva Opening: Eva Bebop (2004).
Yes, this is the Cowboy Bebop opening sequence re-done with the characters and imagery of Neon Genesis Evangelion. It took me three months due to all the frame-by-frame masking I had to do (would have been less if I’d known about Photoshop’s Pen tool and Paths back then!), which is still the most time I’ve spent to date on any completed video. Technically it is not perfect, but it is close enough for me.
I would later discover that opening sequence parodies were nothing new to the Japanese even back then (Doki Doki alerted me to the existence of a CB OP parody with Card Captor Sakura, Magic Users’ Club, *and* Pretty Sammy), but to my knowledge this was the first example of a widely popular OP parody on the Western AMVing scene.
Note: all of these video embeds are graciously served up by AnimeMusicVideos.org, founded in 2000 and still the absolute BEST English-language resource on the Web for all of your AMV needs. Clicking the link icon in the video player will take you to the video’s info page on A-M-V.org (as opposed to my earlier text link, which takes you to the video’s info page on AquilineStudios.org).
Enjoy!
Evangelion vs Cthulhu, essentially
So yeah watching this, and WTF when did they hire GlaDOS?
So I honestly think people should worry more about this happening in the movie, than the flipping name change of the main character.
Little surprised by Aki’s response, but the rest is perfect, ‘specially Yukari.
Now we approach something that I have been told I should really watch for a long time. Sword Art Online has been my port of call tonight, and I’m not going to lie, it’s a belter. So first things first, let me cover some background information for you. Sword Art Online is the brand new MMO…
So we’ve had a couple of modern offerings, and I’m feeling that we need some old school love here. So without further ado, I introduce to you Clamp’s Magic Knight Rayearth.
Being a classic from the early 90s, you won’t find any tropes of modern day animé. No 3D animation or excessive fan…
Now, I will admit, I’ve never been one to follow the more mainstream animés. I’ve watched Bleach all the way through, and I’ve watched the odd episode of One Piece here and there, but I haven’t committed myself to those week in and out offerings from the far east. Well what better way to break…
